Crisis Helplines

  • The Samaritans - Free Helpline 116 123 - Open 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

  • Mind - Providing information and support for those living with mental health problems, including friends and family who have someone they are close to with mental health issues.

  • Shout - Text 85258 anytime for free, to talk to a trained volunteer.

  • SANEline - Call 07984 967708 a national out-of-hours mental health helpline offering specialist emotional support, guidance and information to anyone affected by mental illness, including family, friends and carers. 

  • Switchboard - 0300 330 0630 - Support and referral service for lesbians, gay men and bisexual and trans people - and anyone considering issues around their sexuality and/or gender identity.

  Helplines and Support for Children and Young People

  • Kooth - Free, safe and anonymous online mental health support for children and young people.

  • The Zone Plymouth - A charity providing free and confidential information and support to young people in Plymouth. 

  • Childline - 0800 1111 - Confidential helpline for children and young people up to the age of 19.

Bereavement Helplines and Services

  • CRUSE - 0808 808 1677 - Free helpline for those dealing with bereavement.

 

  • BCS Bereavement Counselling Service Plymouth - Providing Short-term psychotherapeutic interventions for people who have experienced sudden, traumatic loss and for people experiencing prolonged grief, also known as complicated grief.

  • Jeremiah’s Journey - Offering support to children and their families who live in Plymouth or the immediate surrounding area who have experienced the death of someone significant or is experiencing the anticipated death of a family member due to terminal illness.

Other Support Services

  • SALT - Free listening therapy for individuals, couples, carers and families in the area of childhood sexual abuse.

  • The Mustard Tree Macmillan Centre - Cancer Support Centre was created to support people with cancer, their carers and family. It is available to anyone affected by cancer at any stage of the illness and offers a wide range of services.
