About Me
A qualified and experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist in Plymouth
I believe that everyone has the ability to fulfil their potential, and am passionate about helping those who would like some support and guidance to reach theirs.
I have always been fascinated by human behaviour, and what drives us to do the things we do and experience the emotions that we feel. In 1993 I studied for a degree in Psychology, beginning my journey to learn more about the mind and how we work.
After completing my degree, I spent 15 years working for the local council and Sure Start Centres, running groups and working with families to support children’s development and learning. This also included running courses that allow parents to focus on their own needs as adults, improve confidence and self-esteem, reduce anxiety and manage stress.
After the birth of my children in 2008, I worked for the Twins Trust, running courses supporting parents with the different stages of their children’s lives and development and adjusting to life with twins, triplets or more.
In 2014 I began training as a counsellor and completed my level 4 Advanced Diploma in Counselling and level 6 Advanced Diploma in Supervision with Heartwood Counselling and Psychotherapy in Dartington. This included training and working with Pregnancy Crisis Care in Plymouth as a volunteer Counsellor and Supervisor for five years.
Since 2017 I have been running a busy independent counselling practice in Plymouth, supporting many people from different walks of life to overcome their difficulties and fulfil their potential to lead happier lives.
I'm always looking to expand my knowledge and experience and regularly attend training and continuing professional development courses. Having recently completed EMDR training I can now offer this intervention to clients, particularly those suffering from trauma-related issues.
I recognise that it can be daunting, and often scary, to reach out and ask for help and support. My priority is to make your counselling experience as worry-free and straightforward as possible, from our initial chat to our first face-to-face or online session and I provide a safe, confidential and welcoming space where you will be met with warmth and respect.

I'm an Accredited Professional Registrant member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and am bound by its Code of Ethical Practice and Complaints Procedure.
All Registrants must meet high professional standards, enhancing safety and ensuring a high-quality service is delivered. I also adhere to their recommendations for regular supervision.
I’m also on the voluntary register of counsellors and psychotherapists accredited by The Professional Standards Authority.
